Student presentation at 2023 MPA meeting

In April 2023, several students presented ongoing research at the 2023 Midwestern Psychology Meeting in Chicago. Graduate student researcher Denise Ealy and undergraduate research assistant Kendall Perssico presented a data update on the associations between cerebellar morphology and symptomatology variables in Chiari Malformation patients.

Congratulations to you two on excellent presentations and representing the lab and MTSU!

Funding proposal approved to study white matter abnormalities in the cerebellum and brainstem of Chiari patients

High-resolution diffusion-weighted image and corresponding whole-brain diffusion-weighted image from a Cognitive Chiari project participant.

This is an exciting one! Our recent proposal to study white matter abnormalities in the cerebellum and brainstem of Chiari patients has been approved by Conquer Chiari. In this study, we will use high resolution diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) to identify potential differences in white matter structures between Type I Chiari malformation patients and matched controls as well as determine whether any white matter abnormalities are associated with cognitive deficits, chronic pain, and Chiari symptomatology variables.
